Architecture in the spotlight – dynamic lighting for Messe Dornbirn

Messe Dornbirn received an architecturally impressive expansion with its new building in 2017. The Vorarlberg architecture firm Marte.Marte designed a facility that combines striking black tones with bright red façade elements. A powerful and adaptable lighting solution was needed to highlight this spectacular architectural marvel while enabling flexible usage,. The challenge was to evenly illuminate the spacious halls with a span of 75 meters and to create a dynamic lighting concept suitable for a wide range of events.
Visible in the image are the large hall of Messe Dornbirn on one side and the red foyer on the other. The hall is equipped with modern LED luminaires, while the red foyer stands out with its flowing lines and contemporary architecture.

One system, multiple moods – dynamic lighting for every event setting

Zumtobel developed a special lighting solution that integrates perfectly into the existing architecture and offers outstanding lighting quality. The TECTON Balanced White continuous-row lighting system has created precisely controllable lighting that can be dynamically adapted to various events. Whether it's for trade fairs, concerts, or congresses – the lighting control system allows the colour temperature to be individually adjusted to suit the specific usage situation. This creates atmospheric or functional lighting environments as needed.

The room appears minimalist and symmetrical, with a central line that visually divides the space. A single person moves through the room, which exudes a futuristic and impressive atmosphere.

Efficient LED technology for sustainable lighting

In addition to TECTON Balanced White, the PANOS infinity architectural lighting system was also utilized. The energy-efficient LED downlights provide an inviting lighting ambiance in the stairwells and foyer. With a luminous efficacy of up to 100 lumen per Watt, they are twice as efficient as conventional downlights. The individually tailored color selection in black and red emphasizes the architectural design and creates a cohesive overall impression.
